The handle or knob must be jiggled to unstick the latch. If your bathroom door has a button lock from the inside and a little hole on the knob on the outside as seen in the above video then a screwdriver can certainly help you out. The knob will not turn to retract the stuck door latch. Release the button quickly try sliding your finger off the button so the pressure is maintained up until the precise moment of release with no backing off.

A door knob lock button stuck has a few quick fixes that you can try out. Pull the spindle from the center of the latch if applicable. Push and hold the button in. You re going to need a screwdriver with a skinny rod because the thicker rod won t be able to fit through the hole.

Use a file to widen the hole on the strike or remove the strike with a screwdriver and reposition it on the jamb. If the locking mechanism is a latchbolt the kind of bolt that is spring loaded and has one angled edge and the angled edge is facing away from you you can hook it with a wire hanger. Thread the screwdriver through the large spindle. Once the door is open try to actuate the door latch with the handle.

The door latch is not extended before rotating the knob. More force is needed to turn the knob and unstick the latch.
